Do you care for or support someone living with dementia?

The Carers Journey: Information, support and training for informal caregivers in the South Eastern Health & Social Trust Areas!

These workshops are free to attend and we would like to share our knowledge and expertise, by providing up to date useful resources and local information that will help and support you when you are caring for a person with a dementia. The 2 hour workshops will run over 6 weeks and topics include: What is dementia?, legal and financial issues, learning to manage, communication, personal care and well-being and local support services.

The programme also allows you to meet others in a similar position to yourself and have the opportunity to gain insight into the local services that are available to support you and the person you care for. The workshops will provide useful information, helping you to understand the signs and symptoms of dementia providing you with effective techniques to respond to need, or manage, often challenging behaviours. There is also time for private questions.

All caregivers who attend the workshops will receive a carer’s handbook that will be developed throughout the programme.

This programme will run over 6 mornings, 6.00pm - 8.00pm, Thursday 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th November, 7th and 14th December 2017.
